Avengers Assembled

Back in August Mikey came home with a nice little treat for me.... Lego Set 6865 - Captain America's Avenging Cycle.  It is a nice little set, but only really bought for the Captain America MiniFig, who quickly joined Hulk on my windowsill..... Hang on did I ever actually manage to do a blog post about the super exclusive Hulk MiniFigure that came with my Death Star purchase from lego.com ... ooops... I don't think I did, in all my Death Star excitement.

Ooops. Apologies for not blogging about these earlier.  Life kinda got in the way!

Anyway, another few treats arrived last week. Firstly the Avengers 6 Disc DVD box set. Thor is my fave Marvel Hero but I very much enjoy all the other films and love the Avengers Assemble film.

The following day a large box arrived on the doorstep.  I quickly tore it open and out fell a little baggie with a wonderful Lego Thor MiniFig in it. Yay! I'd wanted him for so long.  He is awesome indeed.

But not content with surprising me with Thor... there was yet more to come.  Underneath some more packaging was a Lego box.  A brand new and unopened Set 6867 - Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape   containing a splendid IronMan, a cool Loki, and  HawkEye minifig too.  To say I was a tad excited would be an understatement.  I was overwhelmed with excitement. Thanks Mikey!

Anyway, predictably the 4 main Avengers Assembled and had their picture taken. =D

Series 8 - A few more...

On Wednesday we had to take the car to have some new brakes fitted. So whilst we waited we wandered over to Tesco to see who we could find from Series 8.  I only needed four more and there were plenty in the boxes so with a bit of luck I would come home with all 4!

First we found what we hoped would be the Red Cheerleader. Yay! The Cheerleader from Series One has been a firm fave of mine... and one of the few female MiniFigures I like... so I was looking forward to getting her a friend. She took suprisingly quite a lot of finding - as we had to find both pompoms as the alien brain feels quite similar. (That was until I remembered that the Alien had the huge unmistakable triangular skirt.)

Then Mikey found Father Christmas by locating his beard.  Then after much much more searching and with only a couple of bags left to feel I thought I'd found the Vampire Bat.  I hadn't expected him to be quite as hard to find due to his usual arms... but it was a lot trickier than I'd imagined.

There were now only a few bags left. A young boy joined us at the box and he grabbed a bag. After having a little feel of it he announced it had two heads.  I desperately hoped that he didn't want it and that he would reject it but no.... off he walked. Nooooo! I was mortified. Hamlet is the only one left I needed. (As long as all my predictions were correct.)

In despair we fondled the final few bags.... Nothing. :(

We then went back to the garage to wait for the car.  It was taking longer than expected as they had to wait for the disks to be delivered. I had no scissors... I wanted to open my packets!

In anticipation I re-fondled the bags.  Oh no! Had we made a huge mistake? I now no longer thought that I had any of the ones we had thought we'd found.  Had someone swapped the three in my basket whilst we weren't looking?

I now needed to desperately open them.... To put myself out of my misery....

Lord of the Rings - Set 9469

During my little shopping spree this weekend, as well as the small haul of Series 8 MiniFigures, I also stumbled across the only Lord of the Rings set I've wanted since the Lego LOTR release.

It is an awesome (and reasonably priced) little set containing Gandalf the Grey, Frodo and a horse and cart.  As Gandalf is my fave from the saga and I have a soft spot for Hobbits it really was on my wish-list.  Add to the equation that I've been wanting a Lego horse for a while now... the super little set just had to be mine... I had to have it!

Series 8 - Swapsies

As I mentioned in an earlier post I had two swapsies - the Pirate and the Fairy.  Two pirates wouldn't be too bad as I could make a little scene with them... but there really was no need for two fairies.

Anyway, I just knew my Mum would love the Pirate - Last year she said she would like a Lego Pirate. So I knew she would give him a good home.

So that was one swapsie happily re-homed. =D

Then sadly after our trip to Tesco she came home with two swapsies of her very own. Ooops! Despite my initial help at Tesco I had let her fend for herself. Oopsie. She had two Conquistadors and two DJs.

Obviously as I didn't have the DJ we did a quick swap. The DJ for the fairy!

He's not the greatest or most interesting MiniFig (unless you like DJs) but he's OK and would be needed to complete my collection.

I now am also in procession of her 2nd Conquistador.  He is still sealed in a bag, so if any one would like to do a swap for him, let me know.

Series 8 - Another 5

Yesterday my Mum was off to a neighbouring town so as I hadn't been there for a while and as it has better shops than our town I thought I'd go along for the ride. (I ended up spending far too much money - on Lego of course and a pair of proper running trainers - but that's not for this blog).

Our first stop was in Tesco. Their toy aisle is HUGE in comparison to our Tesco and there was a huge selection of Lego. First in my basket went a couple of little sets... but more on those later)

Then I spent 5 minutes fondling bags.

The first bag I picked up was the Conquistador - as I already had him, I gave him to my Mum - who I knew wanted him - in exchange for the Deep Sea Diver that she had in her hand - he was in the first bag she'd picked up but I snatched him off her. (She knows no better and was relying on me to identify all hers.) His helmet was the biggest giveaway but I also located his spear gun for extra confirmation.

I wasn't disappointed when I got home.
The next bag I picked up was the Skier.

Series 8 - Batch 2

On Friday, the kind fella that is, Mikey spent his lunch break walking to Tesco to find a few more MiniFigures for me. What a nice boy he is. (I was off work sick so I couldn't go myself after work as planned)

He came home with 4 more bags. The first one I opened was the mighty fine Conquistador. He is beyond awesome and is now sitting proudly upon our TV. His name is Jesús (Said with a Spanish pronunciation, obviously).

Next to pop out of a bag was the mean looking pirate....

Series 8 is here.

Yesterday sweet Mikey made a quick trip to Tesco for me on his way home from work (donned in Lycra and with his clippy cloppy bicycle shoes).

Despite the odd looks he got and against all odds (as just yesterday the local shop owner had been told that Series 8 wouldn't be in the UK till Oct 5th) he found a box of the new series.

He grabbed 4 - without too much fondling and headed home.

On his return I quickly ripped open the first bag that I grabbed from his pannier.

YAY! Out fell the awesome bad robot....

I then tried to convince myself I would wait for an hour before opening another bag.  As you can probably guess that plan didn't even last a minute.

Who was I kidding?
