A couple more Series 7 MiniFigs

Series 7 still hasn't appeared in either of our toys shops and Tesco has sold out already so getting any new MiniFigs has been quite challenging.

Thankfully however on a chance visit to WHSmiths we found a box full of Series 7. The lady allowed me to have  the box which they were keeping behind the counter but she didn't seem at all pleased to let me spend time looking for the ones I needed.

She made me very uncomfortable looking and I really struggled to recognise any pieces.   Mikey found a bag with what he was sure had the Ocean King in (I wasn't convinced though) and I managed to find the short legs of the Red Riding Hood character.  After that and I just kept picking up ones I already had.  It was the first time I really haven't enjoyed the MiniFigure hunt.  After a few more disapproving looks off the staff I called it a day and only came home with two bags.

I got home with a heavy heart - unconvinced that The Ocean King was in one of my bags.  Amazingly Mikey had been right - I bow down to his superior fondling ability - and when I ripped open Bag One out fell the Ocean King. I was over the moon!

Then out came The Red Riding Hood character... she too was pretty cool.  I was now a happy bunny!

Now I only have 2 left to collect.... the Galaxy Patrol man and the Swimming Champion. I know the swim champ will be tough to find as she has very few recognisable pieces but surely the Space Cop's gun should be easy to find.

Series 7 Goodies

The Series 7 still haven't arrived in either of my local toy shops yet.  I have been trying to patiently wait as I'd much rather give my custom to the little people rather than to the supermarket giants but I couldn't wait much longer after the last disappointing haul.  So during our supermarket trip on Monday I came home with seven bags  (6 for me and 1 for my Mum)!

This time I'd spent more time fondling the bags and with Mikeys amazing ability to correctly identify, this time round I knew I would be far from disappointed.

First out of the bag was my 2nd most anticipated (after the Bunny) which was the Viking Woman.....

The Spartan Warrior and friends

In the last few weeks I have completed my Series Two collection, with the help from my Mum.  For a while now she has been buying the odd Mini Figure - unlike me she doesn't like to buy them to complete a series - she just collects the ones she thinks are "Heroic" or those with nice faces.

Anyway, the weekend before last, she started ordering herself quite a few from series One and Two. Realising she was ordering a number of figures that I didn't have - and knowing that I would sulk if she had them and I didn't - she also ordered me some too.  :-) Yay for generous Mothers!

So she bought us each....

Series 7 - Heaven and Hell

Last weekend a friend offered to sell me his spare Bunny Suit guy - despite both local toy shops still not having series 7, it was already out in Edinburgh!  Amazingly the Posties did a wonderful and speedy job and he arrived on Tuesday.  He is awesome! An instant fave!

That afternoon however, we had to do our supermarket food shop and we discovered a box of series 7 there.  Wooopee! What a great day.....

A (Belated) Happy St Paddys Day

That mischievous little Leprechaun went missing late yesterday afternoon. We found him this afternoon a little worse for wear.

Hope you all had a Happy St Patricks Day.

Star Wars - Battle of Hoth

As I said in the last post I went a little bit crackers in the toy shop this week and as well as the super Lego Truck, I also arrived home with a board game. It is actually my first Lego Board game but after playing this, I will definitely be buying more.

Star Wars Battle of Hoth
(Lego Kit 3866)
After the initial excitement of finding the MiniFigs were actually Micro-Mini-Figs the fun continued with building the board and the vehicles (which are great little MiniKits).

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the game itself was also really rather fun. It is a strategy game but not too difficult to get your head around.  We have played it a couple of times now and of course I won all of them - but that's only because Michael knows what is good for him (and because I am always the Rebels and the goodies always have to win!)

Lego Delivery Truck

Earlier this week I went a little bit crazy in the Toy Shop and bought myself a few new Lego kits. I'd gone in to buy the new Lego City Ambulance set - as it comes with a green bicycle - and although they did have one in stock, two other things caught my attention so I left without it.

The first to make it home with me was this awesome Lego City Delivery Truck (Set 3221). With £10 knocked off its price I just had to have it!

As always Lego have done wonders with the details. It comes with 2 MiniFigures; the driver in an obligatory check shirt and the Warehouse Man in dungarees.  The Cab is excellent and inside there is even a little bed and a TV. Inside the Wagon are 9 packages - Blue replica Lego boxes, of course.

Overall it is such a great addition to my ever growing Lego collection. Top marks to Lego for pulling another triumphant kit out of the bag.

Campervan

Campervan Troopers by Kitty*Kins
Campervan Troopers, a photo by Kitty*Kins on Flickr.
Today I got a huge surprise when Mikey arrived home with some new Lego for me, the Lego City Camper Set (7639).

It obviously doesn't come with the Storm Troopers, but Colin and Pauline were a little bashful so let Mr & Mrs Stormie take their place for the photo.

Its an absolutely wonderful set, pretty easy to build but the attention to detail is, as always, magnificent. The Campervan opens up and there are 2 chairs inside, a TV, a couple of cups and a frying pan and also a little sleeping bunk over the drivers seat.  It comes with the Longboard and the red Bicycle - Stormie bought his own bike along!

This set gets a big thumbs up from me. Five Stars - despite it not being Star Wars Lego. ;-)

A ride to the beach.

Today I combined both my love for riding bicycles and my love for Lego.

Mr A. Stormtrooper decided to come with us. (Mrs Stormie was having her hair done so she didn't join us).

Before we set off, Stormie had a bit of work to do. His front wheel had a puncture. But he soon got it sorted.

Then we set off. The first part of the ride was fun; the terrain was a tad tricky on our road bikes, but we all made it.

9miles later and we made it to the beach - just in time for lunchtime pasties.

Stormie was happy to find a Lego MiniFigure sized castle to explore.

Then we watched the boats  (this one looked a little stuck!)

Then we headed home, arriving safely back tired but happy.

A Lego Update

I've neglected this blog for the last few weeks, but don't let that fool you - I've not been neglecting my Lego!

So whats been happening.

Firstly, I completed the Series 3 collection with a number of eBay purchases.

I then completed the Series 6 collection after spending 10 minutes standing in a busy supermarket, under the watchful eye of a security guard, fondling bags until I found the hard-to-find Surgeon and the easy-to-find Lady Liberty.  As well as being happy to complete this collection, I was also really chuffed that despite buying all these in the traditional manner of purchasing them in shops, I actually only ended up with one swapsie for this series; which I very quickly swapped with my Mother, who has recently started her very own collection.

Additionally, I have also had fun dismantling the majority of my Star Wars collection. Don't panic, it's not going anywhere.... we were decorating the dining room and it all needed to be relocated to avoid getting paint on.   As we have only just finished decorating I am still yet to rebuild it all. But I can't wait to get building.

Finally, I have received a couple more of the Series 1 and 2 characters. The Vampire, The Traffic Cop and The Karate Master (series 2) and the Caveman, Forest man and Deep Sea Diver (series 1).
